Correct me if I am wrong, but a freighter has NO fitting options. There seems to be an inconsistency here.

Freighter is a capital ship, capital ships aren't meant for the solo player.

Freighters are a capital ship that is well within reach of the solo player, and also one of the few that can operate in Empire. Seems to me they are quite acceptable for solo players.

It is a shame that even in the most secure parts of empire space, the local authorities (Navy/Concord) are incapable of providing such support. I wonder why I bother paying my taxes.

Unfortunately there are no statistics to support either position; forum activity notwithstanding. All we know are the population figures for high-sec, which suggest that the majority of players prefer the benefits of a safer environment.
It think it is unfair to discount a person's argument simply because they cannot produce any proof, when there is no proof available either way.
